Allari Naresh, Shreya and Sharwanand have teamed up for ’Nuvva Nena’. The movie has been directed by P.Narayana and SVK Cinema banner produced the film. ‘Nuvva Nena’ was touted as a triangle love story and it has released all over the world today. Let us see how the film is.
Story :
Avinash (Allari Naresh ) is a small time crook who creates havoc in the town of Amalapuram along with his friend Ali. After a big robbery, they escape to Hyderabad along with 60 lakhs in cash. Unexpectedly, Avinash comes across the gorgeous Dr. Nandini ( Shreya ), and it is love at first sight for him. He sets about trying to get closer to Nandini and starts hatching plans to that effect. Into this scenario enters Anand (Sharwanand) who is an extremely timid guy. Anand is extremely frightened about very minor things and his father takes him to Dr. Nandini for treatment. As Nandini sets about curing Anand’s problem, he too falls for her.
Friction develops between Avinash and Anand as they set about hatching plans to destroy each other’s image in front of her. Unexpected competition comes in the form of local Don Aaku Bhai (Brahmanandam). Who will win Shreya’s heart ? That forms the story.
Plus Points :
Allari Naresh does a good job in a role which is tailor made for him. His energy levels and ease in comedy scenes are good to watch. Sharwanand does a fine job as a timid guy who transforms into a confident young man. He goes overboard in a few instances but that is not his fault. His character has been designed that way.
Shreya is a treat to watch. She oozes glamour in the songs and wears nice sarees throughout the film. She still has the potential to excite in terms of looks and performance. Ali does a decent job as the friend of Allari Naresh
Brahmanandam rocks as Don Aaku Dada. He has been given a fine characterization after a long time and his scenes are hilarious. There is good comedy in the first half and in the starting stages of the second half. ‘Blackberry’ song has been shot well and reminds you of the ‘Oy Makhna’ song from ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’. Vimala Raman is ok in the item song.
Minus Points :
With good performances and a nice comedy track, the movie would have been a good watch but the director loses the plot completely in the second half. The climax is unnecessarily prolonged and poorly executed. Kovai Sarala’s performance is too loud.
The romantic track between Shreya, Sharwanand and Naresh never really takes off. There is no chemistry between them and as a result, the audience will not connect to the triangle love story. Vimala Raman’s item song does not gel with the story and the flow.
Logic has gone for a toss big time. Sharwanand’s captor uses a dummy gun to threaten him. Yet, when Sharwanand seizes that gun and points it back at him, why does he get frightened? There are many such ill conceived sequences and they ruin whatever positives the movie has.
Technical Aspects :
Dialogues are good in places and they give the necessary comic punch. Editing is disastrous and the whole movie has a very disjointed feel. Music by Bheems is ok but Manisharma’s background score leaves a lot to be desired. Direction could have been a lot better, especially in the second half. There is no conviction in the narration.
Choreography is ok and production values are average. Cinematography is decent.
Verdict :
Nuvva Nena would have been a good entertainer if not for a silly and needlessly dragged climax and bad screenplay in the second half. The movie has good performances from the lead cast and Shreya provides the necessary glamour. Brahmanandam entertains nicely after a long time and his act has come out well. The movie ends up as a very average time pass flick. Don’t expect much from the film if you do decide to watch it.
