The international conference on Information Systems Design and Intelligent Applications (INDIA – 2012) being organised by Computer Society of India in association with Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited began on Thursday with a call by Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Naval Command Anil Chopra to find out new strategies to address internet security challenges. In his inaugural address, Vice-Admiral Chopra said with the growing use of internet and dependence on online applications, the people and the institutions were facing new challenges with regard to internet security. CSI-India president M.D. Agarwal presided. A souvenir brought out on the occasion was released by Vice-Admiral Chopra. Over 400 delegates are attending. A parallel students convention was earlier inaugurated by Visakhapatnam Port Chairman Ajeya Kallam at AU Platinum Jubilee Guesthouse. Speaking at the main convention being held at Novotel Varun Beach, CSI-Vizag chairman and RINL CMD A.P. Choudhary said computers alone consume 15 per cent of world''s electricity and this clearly explained the challenges posed to the IT industry. CSI-Vizag vice-chairman and RINL Director (Finance) P. Madhusudan stressed the importance of IT in corporate governance. IBM Leader Cloud Computing Vamsi Mudiam gave an address on cloud computing. CSI-Vizag secretary Paramata Satyanarayana, RINL Assistant General Manager (IT) Thyagaraju and chairman of the organising committee KVSS Rajeswara Rao spoke.
