A R Rahman made news with his latest compositions in the film Ek Deewana Tha, however an excess of anything can spell doom, and the same is the case with the track 'Hosanna' which has been making waves in the music world.
While on one hand the track has been growing in popularity with each passing day, on the other hand, a certain group from the Christian Secular Forum (CSF) in Mumbai have raised a strong objection to the use of the word 'Hosanna', which apparently is a sacred term used within prayer songs. It is learnt that the word 'Hosanna' is a prayer in the Bible that is used by both Jews and Christians. While in the film, the same word is used in a song and dance sequence where a guy is proposing to his girl.
The CSF says that using the term in such a derogatory fashion has hurt the sentiments of Christians and Jews and therefore they are demanding a public apology, apart from eliminating the word from the song. The forum has further expressed their concern via e-mail to composer AR Rahman, lyricist Javed Akhtar and to those concerned at Fox Star Studio and Sony Music.
The CSF also plans to move court against Fox Star Studios and Sony Music as well as file a police complaint against those concerned.
