YSR Congress Party workers staged demonstrations in front of the Collectorates in the state demanding the Government to release the fee reimbursement funds immediately. The dharnas went peacefully barring some minor incidents in Hyderabad and Mahabubnagar districts. The YSR Congress Party chief and Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy led the protests in Ongole. He was joined by approximately 40,000 students, parents, party workers and followers.
Jagan Mohan Reddy criticized the Government that it is not bothered about the fee reimbursement scheme that was launched by his father late YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Even though there are only three months left in this academic year, funds for the fee reimbursement were not released yet, he said. The dharnas across the state should be an eye opener for the Government, he added. Rebel Congress MLA Dharmana Krishnadas led the protest in Srikakulam. Anakapalle MP Sabbam Hari led the protest along with G Babu Rao and Gandi Babji in Visakhapatnam.
The dharna at the Ranga Reddy collectorate in Lakdikapul, Hyderabad went violent when the protesters led by youth wing president Putta Pratap Reddy tried to lay siege to the Collectorate. To disperse the crowd, the police resorted to lathi charge. Two women suffered injuries when they fell from a moving police van and were treated at the Osmania General Hospital.
