Digital Technology Turning Flop Movies Into Blockbusters ??

24 January 2012

Gone are the days when producers used to release their movies in available theaters with limited number of prints and praying god for the long run of the movies. Thanks to the Digital technology which made it possible for the producers to release their movies in huge number of theaters without worrying about print costs and transport issues.

Earlier, if someone has to say that a movie is a flop movie, they used describe it as "3 weeks movie" or "4 weeks movie". But as per the current trend, a movie can become a hit movie if it gets decent collections in first three or four weeks, provided that the movie gets a huge release. It all started becoming possible when theaters started digital projections. Now, producers do not have to have 2000 prints to release in 2000 theaters. They can send a digital copy of the movie in a hard disk to Digital Cinema Broadcasting companies like UFO Moviez and they broadcast the movie to those theaters that have the receiving system at their end. As most of the theaters in our Andhra Pradesh have already adopted this digital technology, it became easy for the producers to go for a massive release at low cost.

This technology also made it possible for the makers to release their movies with subtitles in Overseas. People normally tend to prefer watching movies on the first day or the releasing weekend. As more audiences are able to watch in the initial days of release, more revenue is being generated. Let us hope, this new technique will continue to help the producers, which indirectly helps the whole industry survive.
