Ram Charan questioned

HYDERABAD: CBI on Thursday questioned cine actor Ram Charan Tej in the Emaar villas case. Ram Charan appeared before the CBI along with his uncle Allu Aravind and answered to the queries of the sleuths on the mode of payment and other details.

In the OMC case, the CBI questioned mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy's brother Somasekhara Reddy, their rival Tapal Ganesh and former director of mines V Rajagopal.

CAT stays selection process

Meanwhile, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) took objection to the inclusion of an official, who is facing criminal proceedings, in the list for conferring IFS status. The tribunal stayed the selection process pertaining to the 2009 A category in the forest service.

Justice P Swaroop Reddy, member (Judicial) and R Santhanam, member (Administration) made this order mainly on the ground that persons with criminal charges included in the list and directed the Centre, state and the UPSC to file their counters.

The bench made this roder after hearing a petition filed by an aggrieved divisional forest service officer T Narasimhulu of Kurnool.

K Sudhakar Reddy, the counsel for the petitioner It is the contention of the petitioner that the service records of those aspiring to be promoted to the IFS from the state service should contain certifications like outstanding, Very Good etc. But One B Vijaya Kumar of Visakhapatnam against whom criminal proceedings are pending was shortlisted and his name was also included in teh four memebr select list sent to UPSC in July this year.
