Inspecting the implementation of various welfare programmes, he said that efforts were being made to connect the district border with Araku, one of the tou-rism spots in Visakha-patnam district within a short distance of 50 km.
As part of the works, a 13.2 km road was already built between Kannayyavalasa and Tangalam in Pachipenta mandal at a cost of Rs.3 crore under the NREGS funds.
He also visited the Peddagedda reservoir and directed the officials to clear all pending compensation packages to the oustees of the reservoir. He also visited the tribal welfare schools and inquired the students about the facilities they are provided. He reiterated that the fruits of welfare programmes should reach every tribal resident in the Agency areas. The Integrated Tribal Development Agency project officer, Mr G. Suvarnapanda Das, accompanied Mr Somesh.
