13 October 2011

The car found in Ambala packed with explosives was meant for the banned Sikh terrorist group Babbar Khalsa, the Delhi Police announced on Thursday. The car was headed to the national capital for a terror strike, said the police. "We recovered explosives from a Tata Indica car and the

consignment was meant for Delhi," Arun Kampani, deputy commissioner of police, Special Cell, told reporters in Delhi.

"Central intelligence agencies had informed us that a module of the Lashkar-e-Taiba was active in Jammu and Kashmir," he added.

Haryana Police, along with a special team of Delhi Police, had found an abandoned Indica car outside the Ambala Cantonment railway station on Wednesday evening with five kg of explosives, a timer and detonators. Police, who were tipped off, waited for the owner of the car and then opened it to find the explosives.
