RIM's Blackberry the Best Choice for the Richest over iPhone 4 or Android devices

27 September 2011

If you thought that BlackBerry was losing ground, you were right. But if you thought that BlackBerry was losing ground among its staunchest user base, business community, you were mistaken.

Ontario, Canada based Research in Motion (RIM) manufactured BlackBerry smart phones are still the preferred choice of the super rich people across the world. So while Apple’s iPhone and other Android smart phones may be gaining ground in the smart phone market, BlackBerry is holding tight its best territory, the super rich people and upper and mid-level executives.

BlackBerry enjoys close to 16 percent market share of smart phone market. While it has lost some customers to iPhone and some Android devices being produced by Samsung and Motorola, it has held its forte.

Prosper Mobile Insights survey released recently said that 11.3 percent super rich people own a BlackBerry. Apple’s iPhone is close behind with 10.9 percent market share in this segment. These super rich people had an annual income in excess of $150,000.

BlackBerry’s hold among the people with annual income of $149000-100,000 was even tighter. 21.2 percent people who used smart phones in this segment used BlackBerry. Around 19 percent people in this segment use iPhone while around 16 percent people use Android smart phones.

Apple iPad has started attracting more and more people in the corporate sector with its improved performance in its latest version iPhone 4. This seems to be the reason that it has been able to catch up with BlackBerry smart phones among the super rich. But among top executives it is still to catch up with RIM’s Blackberry.
