Ahmedabad, Sept 28: Security at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) has been steeped up following a terror threat through a letter from a little known outfit to attack the airport.

"Airport Director SVPIA Anuj Aggarwal received a threatening letter written in English through regular post. It was written by a terror outfit named Lashkare-el-Jehad," said a senior police official.

A copy of the letter has been sent to the Central Industrial Security Force, the force which takes care of the airport security and Ahmedabad Police Commissioner, Sudhir Sinha for further probe in the matter, said an airport official.

Security has also been beefed up at other prime locations like bus stations, railway stations following the threat, said police.

Earlier, security around Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport's security was tightened after sources revealed that there was a possibility of a 9/11 like terror attack on the airport.

Reports suggested that a possible plane could be hijacked from Hubli, Karnataka and later used to blow up the Mumbai Airport.

Security across pivotal locations in the country have been beefed up after the medium intensity IED blast outside the Delhi High Court on Sept 7.
